What is aflatoxin adsorbent?

Activated carbon is a commonly used adsorbent that has a high affinity for aflatoxins.It can be used in powdered form or incorporated into filters or columns to remove aflatoxins from liquid solutions.

The cell walls of certain yeast species, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, contain components that can bind aflatoxins.Yeast cell walls can be used as a natural adsorbent to reduce aflatoxin contamination.

Various synthetic polymers and resin materials have been developed as aflatoxin adsorbents.These materials are designed to specifically bind aflatoxins and can be used in different applications, including food packaging and storage.

Aflatoxin adsorbents are not a complete solution for aflatoxin contamination.Good agricultural practices, proper storage, and appropriate processing methods are also essential to minimize aflatoxin levels in food and feed products.Additionally, the effectiveness of adsorbents may vary depending on factors such as pH, temperature, and the specific type and concentration of aflatoxins present.
